What is the Home Efficiency Rebate Plus?

Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) is a rebate program launched by the Government of Canada and Enbridge Gas to encourage homeowners to make energy-efficient home upgrades. It works with the Canada Greener Homes Grant to benefit Ontario homeowners with one application for both programs.

The program provides rebates to eligible homeowners who make home retrofits that improve energy efficiency. The retrofits can include insulation, air sealing, windows, doors, and high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, among other upgrades.

The rebate program is designed to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and make homes more energy-efficient while assisting homeowners to save money on their energy bills. The Home Efficiency Rebate Plus is available to homeowners in Ontario and provides rebates of up to $10,000 for eligible retrofits.

What Retrofits Are Eligible for the Ontario Greener Homes Grant?

Home Energy Assessments up to $600
Home Insulation up to $10,000
Air Sealing up to $1,300
Windows and Doors up to $325 each
Space and Water Heating up to $7,800
Smart Thermostats up to $125
Solar Panels up to $5,000
Weatherproofing up to $1,625

Which Homes Are Eligible For
The Ontario Greener Homes Grant?

All homeowners in Ontario qualify for the Home Efficiency Plus (HER+) program except:

Homes where the owner does not live on the premise and do not have an active Enbridge Gas account.
The homeowner has already started work on the upgrades before they conduct their pre-retrofit energy assessment.
The home was built less than six months ago.
The home is part of a cooperative or multi-unit residential building (MURB) with more than three stories or a footprint bigger than 600m2.
Less than 50 percent of the building is residential living space.
Homeowners who have already gone through the Home Efficiency Rebate (HER) or Canada Greener Homes Grant (CGHG) programs maxed out their incentive at \$5,000 for non-Enbridge Gas customers and \$10,000 for Enbridge Gas customers.

For the enhanced Enbridge Gas rebates funded by Enbridge Gas:

During the pre-retrofit energy assessment, you must be a customer and reside or own property in the Enbridge Gas franchise service areas.
Or be converting to Enbridge Gas natural gas.

What is the application process?

Receive Detailed Report
Complete at least one eligible upgrade.
Schedule a follow-up home energy assessment with GreenThink Inc.
Apply For Your Rebates Through The Website
Receive Your Rebate Cheque

After your Registered Energy Advisor files your application, you should receive your refund check within 16 weeks.
